Steve Ludzik was named as coach to replace Jacques Demers. He coached with the Detroit Vipers and is close with new general manager Rick Dudley. Rick Dudley hired Ludzik to be an assistant coach of the Vipers when Dudley was the head coach there. Steve Ludzik led the Vipers to the Turner Cup Championship in 1996-97. He coached the Muskegon Fury of the Colonial Hockey League for 2 seasons. John Torchetti was hired as an assistant coach for Tampa. Torchetti was the general manager of the Detroit Vipers last season. He coached the Fort Wayne Komets in the IHL, plus Greensboro of the ECHL, and San Antonio of the Central Hockey League. John Cullen is the only assistant that was retained.
