Too often people are confusing the Pine Ridge Property Owners Association Inc., (Service Corporation) with the Civic Association and visa versa. Every Pine Ridge property owner belongs to the Pine Ridge Property Owners Association Inc., and each year you pay a maintenance fee depending on the size of your property. This is a fee that is paid to maintain all the common areas, i.e., tennis courts, barn, shuffleboard and horseshoe courts and community center, mowing of the swales, etc. The Board of Directors elected by you the property owners to manage your money. The Pine Ridge Civic Association, Inc. (PRCA) is a group that you may voluntarily choose to join, by paying yearly dues of $8.00 per person. The PRCA meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Community Center with occasional guest speakers followed by refreshments. A gift certificate is given as a door prize to a lucky member at each meeting. Members receive 10 months of the Civic Association newsletter the Pine Ridge Post. A discount is given to all parties sponsored by PREV (Pine Ridge Entertainment Volunteers). The Association continually sponsors dinners, bus trips, tours and even plays. Membership allows you to take advantage of discounts to these events. During the month of December the Board of Directors also sponsors a Holiday Buffet that is free too the membership. In addition the Association sponsors 3 coffees to welcome new residents, allowing them to meet community groups as well as local businesses. The Civic Association has written and published an Information Booklet that is distributed too new members of the Association. The aim of this booklet is to answer some of your questions and make your transition to Pine Ridge more pleasant. Each year a group of members installs the holiday lighting at both 491 and 486 entrances, along with the Christmas tree decoration at the community center. The PRCA in conjunction with the Salvation Army sponsors the Angel Tree program for the needy children of Citrus County. Some local businesses have established discounts for Civic Association members. The Association maintains the Pine Ridge Estates section of the Beverly Hills telephone book. PRCA makes donations to local charities, hosts a candidates night for the Board of Directors of the Pine Ridge Property Owners Association allowing residents to meet and question the candidates. The membership is kept informed by the Water Committee, on the Florida Water as it concerns Pine Ridge residents. Delegates representing the PRCA attend meetings at the Citrus County Council and report back to the membership at the monthly general meeting.
